Edward: Can you briefly introduce your startup and the services you offer?

Andy: Certainly, Edward. Authme is a leading FinTech startup specializing in innovative AI powered identity verification solutions. specialize in preventing impersonation fraud, including protection against deepfakes. Our solutions support a wide range of international ID documents. Our approach combines federated learning with sophisticated biometric recognition to deliver superior verification accuracy.

Edward: What is the core problem you’re addressing?

Andy: From my experience of running a cryptocurrency exchange, we encountered a prevalent issue: identity fraud during user registration. Authme directly tackles this challenge. We focus on confirming true identity and protecting data integrity in our fast-changing digital world. Our primary aim is to enhance the security of online transactions and verifications, ensuring a safer experience for all users.

Edward: What motivated the establishment of your startup?

Andy: Having observed closely the rapid growth of digital services, we also noted financial institution’s inherent challenges in compliance, secure transactions, and operational efficiency which are vital elements for sustaining successful businesses. With these insights, we founded Authme to equip businesses with effective and strong security solutions, enhancing their ability to operate safely and efficiently in the digital age.

Edward: In a concise sentence, what is your startup’s overarching mission?

Andy: Our mission is to democratize digital access by offering efficient and secure identity verification, striving to be Asia’s leading authentication provider and improve digital identity quality for individuals and businesses alike.

Edward: With the numerous solutions in the FinTech sector, how does your product or service differentiate itself?

Andy: We distinguish ourselves in the FinTech sector by offering seamless integration across various platforms, enhanced user experience with lightweight, high-accuracy models, and global leadership in Chinese Character OCR with over 30,000 characters and 99% accuracy. Our commitment extends to regulatory compliance, as we work closely with Taiwanese regulators to ensure our processes meet business needs effectively.

Edward: To date, how many users or clients have benefited from your solution?

Andy: So far, Authme has authenticated identities for users in over 192 countries, completing 3 million verifications globally and saving our customers a total of 15 million hours in the onboarding process.

Edward: What are your team’s current key projects and initiatives?

Andy: Currently, we’re focusing on expanding into Southeast Asia and Japan, responding to the growing need for reliable identity verification amid the dynamic changes in the FinTech sector. This move addresses the rising concerns around cybersecurity, meets strict regulatory standards, and supports the demand for smooth digital identity verification. Additionally, we’re enhancing our services by incorporating features like anti-money laundering (AML) checks and blacklist screenings, aiming to provide a more thorough verification experience.

Edward: As we move forward in 2024, what major trend or challenge do you foresee in your sector?

Andy: The growing complexity of fraud, especially with the rise of deepfake technology, is a significant challenge. It’s increasingly being used for identity theft, account takeovers, and money muling. This trend demands stronger security measures and more comprehensive regulatory responses to protect against these sophisticated threats.

Note: Money muling is the act of transferring illegally obtained money on behalf of or at the direction of another person, often as part of money laundering operations. Mules are typically used to move the funds to obscure the money’s criminal origin.

Edward: Are you looking to partner with specific types of businesses or stakeholders soon?

Andy: While we primarily target the financial sector, we’re keen to partner with various industries, including shared mobility, e-learning, and government agencies. These collaborations aim to broaden our impact and enhance trust in the digital world across different sectors.

Edward: In what ways do you think partnerships or collaborations will benefit your startup?

Andy: Partnerships, especially with System Integration companies abroad, are crucial for us. They help tailor our solutions to meet local needs effectively. By doing so, we not only advance our identity verification technology but also empower these companies to offer top-tier solutions, thereby enhancing our collective capabilities and reach.

Edward: What are your key goals or milestones for the upcoming year?

Andy: In the next year, we aim to broaden the reach of our identity verification solutions globally and enhance our ID ecosystem. Our goal is to create a secure environment where individuals can confidently manage and use their digital identities independently. We’re focused on empowering both businesses and individual users, driving innovation in ID management to ensure everyone can control their digital presence effectively and safely.
